I was sent a press release today about the brand OneStopPlus that I covered a few months ago when they used plus size models on the New York runways. Read on to find out what they are planning for NY Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2011.
For the first time in history, plus-size women in the UK can be at New York Fashion Week, along with audiences around the world, as Redcats brand OneStopPlus streams its new collection for the British market online - inviting them to take a front-row seat at an exclusive international catwalk show via the web.
At 6pm on February 17, 2011 a world-wide simultaneous webcast will showcase the Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. The one-of-a-kind fashion show can be viewed at www.OSPfashionshow.com.
To coincide with this exciting international event, plus-size model Katie Green will act as UK spokesperson for the brand, with posts on the OneStopPlus.co.uk Facebook page www.facebook.com/onestopplusuk, and on Twitter (www.twitter.com/onestopplusUK). She will also be available for interview.
The internet simulcast will air globally in numerous countries around the world, including
The United States, France, United Kingdom, Belgium and Sweden. In addition, the virtual plus-size catwalk show will broadcast live from a Jumbo-Tron in New York City‟s famed
American brand OneStopPlus is no stranger to innovation in the plus-size realm. It initially made fashion history with the first plus-size catwalk show to coincide with New York Fashion Week in September 2010. Now revolutionising the industry once again, this global fashion event will celebrate the future of fashion with the validation of real-women in the fashion industry.
As the plus-size fashion category has become a thriving element in the industry with features in top European and American publications, Fall 2011 Fashion Week is the ideal time for OneStopPlus to cross the high-fashion threshold with an inspiring collection that has the capacity to reach millions.
“What originally started as the OneStopPlus vision for a fashion show quickly became a voice for the 62% of American women who wear size 12 (UK size 14) and up,” said Stephanie Sobel, President of OneStopPlus group. “After producing the first “plus-size only” catwalk show in September 2010 Fashion Week, we wanted to expand our platform of offering exclusive design to our customers, increasing the accessibility to countries throughout the world. This new show format exemplifies both the energy and democracy of fashion and we hope that it will empower all women."
As a pioneer in both fit and style, OneStopPlus will showcase its chic new collection for
Fall 2011 during this virtual runway first, “Sultrous Garden” themed collection. Leading
curvy model Robyn Lawley will confidently walk the runway, modelling 30 looks from
“Collection by OSP,” a premiere brand created exclusively for the fashion show.
Broken into six groups comprised of Bark, Bird, Flower, Cloud, Leaf and Branch, the collection is made up of asymmetrical silhouettes with symmetric patterns and supple fabrics, creating visual tension and balance. Each look is carefully crafted to embrace curves, giving plus-size women the same options as their size two counterparts.
“Acknowledging and celebrating the curves of the female form by engineering the prints in the collection to highlight the shape of a woman‟s body, was the inspiration behind our
„Sultrous Garden‟ theme,” said Zahir Babvani, VP Design at OneStopPlus.com. “For Fall
2011, I‟ve fallen in love with deep, saturated colours that are seductive and sultry, with
silhouettes of effortless fluidity.”
At the initial airing of the fashion show, this 10-minute catwalk video will be actively available for UK viewers on the OneStopPlus.co.uk Facebook and YouTube pages, as well as on the OneStopPlus.co.uk home page.
