Coloured skinny jeans are all over the place as they are bang on trend for Spring Summer, but what should you wear them with? Read on below to find out. Most of us own several pairs of jeans (and if you're anything like me, far too many pairs!) but it's easy to get stuck in a style rut, wearing the same way every day. Luckily, the Spring/Summer coloured skinny jeans trend is just the answer. Brightly colored jeans in every shade of the rainbow are being seen on celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Sarah Jessica Parker so here is a guide of how to wear them. Kim Kardashian SJP Cameron Diaz Rachel Bilson There are a few different ways to work the coloured jean trend and it all depends on how daring you are. I'll start with the most subtle and work my way up. 1. Keep It Simple - Pair Them with Neutrals A bright pair of coloured jeans are already making a statement so to avoid looking over the top, pair them with a neutral top, jacket and shoes in colours like black, white, grey, navy or cream. This is the easiest way to wear coloured jeans as the jean becomes the focal part of the outfit and the rest is kept simple. Pairing a loose-fitting neutral on top will counterbalance the body-hugging effect on the bottom and if you'd like a slightly smarter effect, layer a fitted jacket over your looser top. A way to add a little more interest into this outfit would be to wear a patterned scarf, or necklace, that includes the jean colour within it. This way, you are adding another element without competing with the focal point (i.e. the jeans). 2. Match the Colour of Denim to a Colour in a Patterned Top Patterns are all over the place (paisley, tropical, .....) so it would be a shame to ignore them here. I think the best effect can be achieved when the colour of the jean is one of the main colours within the pattern. This way, the outfit still looks like it works together rather than being two random pieces thrown together. Pair down the rest of your accessories as the pattern in the top will be enough to create a focus. 3. Denim on Denim Along the same vein of the neutral tip, pair your hot jeans with a denim shirt. Add a bold shoe for extra flair. 4. Colour Blocking Nail two trends in one outfit by wearing coloured skinny jeans as part of a colour block ensemble. Wear your jeans with a contrasting coloured top and then add another colour with a jacket or your shoes. Selecting Shoes Skinny jeans can draw attention and visually shorten your legs and coloured ones do this all the more, so unless you have long slim pins, select a pair of shoes with height to elongate your legs. For a sophisticated look, go for a heeled pump; or for a more casual or trendy look, choose a pair of neutral-colored wedges or platforms. If you have long, thin legs and hips, you can wear a pair of flat sandals or shoes. Shop Skinny Jeans from... |
